French: to bite
(a chemical process that bonds dye with fiber)
by Victoria Manganiello & Kristin Kremers
An artist’s project, accompanied by a film, in collaboration with Textile Month, we welcome you to participate in MORDANT through one, in a series of dinner parties.
MORDANT is an examination and documentation of our relationship to textiles by using a tablecloth as the canvas. A dinner cooked by the artist will be served on a hand-woven cloth. Recipes and ingredients have been curated with direct consideration to the potential of dying that cloth. MORDANT asks participants to join in the process of connecting fiber with dye; an integral part of Manganiello's artistic process.
Filmmaker Kristin Kremers, who is known for capturing intimate relationships that are often blindspots in our culture will document the event - from farm - to table - to exhibition.
